So, I had some observations this weekend that I thought I'd share..
1. I'm not sure that I'm a person who "connects" well with others in blogland. I've had a blog for a couple of years over at another site and I kind of noticed the same thing over there. I mean, I think I'm a hoot and am a fabulous person to know, but I'm not sure I convey that very well through my blogs. I don't really get a lot of comments on my blog and I don't know what it takes to be one of those people that everyone is drawn to. I started this blog as a way for my family and friends to keep updated with my life and with my surgery progress, but in the meantime, I have found many wonderful people with whom I have the Lap Band procedure in common. I, unlike many others who have had my procedure, do not have my weight posted or my measurements, or even a before picture. This wasn't something I necessarily wanted my friends and family to know (weight and measurements, they know what I looked like!). I did pretty much tell everyone who would listen that I was having the surgery. I have never been ashamed of it and really needed all the support I could get. And, I've gotten it. Anyways.. I digress.. just was talking to Michelle about that this weekend and was kind of heartbroken that I wasn't the popular girl in blogland that I always wanted to be!!! :)
2. Another observation - I was sitting in a chair watching the Golden Globes last night and I looked down at my crossed legs.. did you catch that?? I said, my crossed legs!!! Um, when did that happen that I could cross my legs?? If you were an earlier reader, you know that I did the top 45/46 reasons I wanted to lose weight and crossing my legs was one of them!! How in theh world did I miss that happening?? Regardless, I'm giving myself a big ole' woot woot for that one!!!
3. One more observation - went to get a Pedi this weekend and noticed that when they pushed the arm of the chair over and it snapped in, it didn't snap back like it had in the past b/c my booty was overflowing!! Another WOOT!!!
4. I canceled my fill that was for this Wednesday. I rescheduled it for 2 weeks from now. I've been having a little bit of port pain everytime I work out when I do side crunches and I want to see if this current level of restriction will last for a bit longer. I think another fill of 1cc might put me OVER the edge so we'll see.. hopefully I won't be begging to get in next week after I realize I'm non-stop starving!!!
5. I took a picture this weekend and didn't have to jut my chin out like I normally do in order to get rid of (or try to get rid of) my double/triple chins.. kind of a fuzzy pic, but I like it.. (was trying on my friend Joy's fabulous new glasses)

Finally, I think I'm going to commit (by commit, I mean I am writing it here so my trainer can see it and the other peeps that hold me accountable can also see!) to working out 2x a day a few days a week. I've been going to work out with Kathi in the AMs and we've had a hard time keeping on track due to my recent flus/sicknesses/some personal matters she had, but I'm pumped and ready to get on a regular schedule. So, my plan is to work out in the AM on MWF and then in the PM on MTWT and occasionally F and throw a Saturday or Sunday in there. I'm checking out Zumba tomorrow night as well!!!
Speaking of working out, I'm late in getting out of here for the gym. See ya'll later.

Girl, you've got 42 followers! That's pop-yooo-lar (think the song from Wicked, if you know what I mean).
ReplyDeleteAlmost every social construct you can think of brings back some high school twinges, believe me. Just keep doin' what you're doin', and those of us who appreciate it will be here.
The photo is GREAT. You look glow-y, and those glasses are superstar material.
Awesome NSV on the leg-crossing. Really looking forward to that - it's sooo unladylike to sit with my knees apart but sometimes it's like Thighmaster hell trying to keep them pressed together.
Keep up the good work at the gym. You're doing great!
I hope you enjoy Zumba, I went again tonight and shook my booty for an hour to the tune of 550 calories and 5000 steps!! It gets better ever time I go! Thanks again for the Unjury!
ReplyDeleteHey Jen.. I really enjoy your blog.. I know what you mean about posters. some do some don't what ever, not everybody likes to leave comments, but YOU DO have quite a following.. Just keep blogging.. we are all here cheering you on.. be well.. Haven;'t done the zumba yet.. let me know how that goes..
ReplyDeleteTriple Woot! I told no one I knew about my blog and have only my first name on there, so I feel pretty comfortable posting my weight when I would NEVER consider sharing that info with anyone but my husband and other bandsters. I figure if someone I know stumbles across it then oh well. Keep up the great progress. Your pic looks great.
ReplyDeleteJen, you are doing great!! Zumba class sounds like so much fun! I can't wait until I can do it too.
ReplyDeleteLike the others said, you have 43 Follower's!! They may not all make comments, or at least not often enough. But at least you know that you are being read!!
You could do like I do & beg for Follower's!! But I know what you mean, about not being like the popular bandsters. As hard as I try, I will never be one! But at least my Follower count keeps going up!
Great NSV! Crossing of the legs!!! Woot Woot!!
I think 43 followers is a brilliant start!! Its actually right up there, girl! (loving your cute pic you posted lol)... Do you comment on those you read? Cos, I honestly think that is half the battle in being connected with the girls n guys. I for one, love reading your blog and will always come back and will always comment.
ReplyDeleteHave a 'happy Tuesday!!' .. yeah, ok being a smartass lol.
from one fabulous Jen to another- you do seem fabulous through your blogging- if it takes comments to help you see that, well, here is a comment! Love the pic, you look great!
ReplyDeleteJen, I read all your blog entries. However, at work I am sometimes forbidden from commenting by our virus software. I will try to post more often. I started my blog as a way to record my journey for myself and I would continue posting exactly the same way even if no one else read it. It is my outlet. BTW, your very pretty and your blog is fun to read!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and you do look FABULOUS!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your accomplishments! You look awesome! I think you should get yourself a pair!
ReplyDeleteLove you!
I keep up with your blog and I'm very proud of you. You look fabu! I get intimidated by the whole posting thing. So just know that I'm out here supporting you. Love, Susan
ReplyDeleteLOVE your shades. 2 a days?!?! What are you - some Texas High School Football team? Go on w/ your bad self!
ReplyDeleteBut you are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the leg crossing.
I like reading your blog, Jen! You know, I felt the same way in the beginning, the blogger no one wanted to play with. But I found out, eventually, that I was wrong about that.
ReplyDeleteIMHO, the best way to connect with others is to:
1. post as much as you can on other blogs.
2. post pictures! I was very uncomfortable about this in the beginning, now I will take a picture every day!
3. try to post some kind of progress statistics - if not pounds, then measurements, sizes? we just like reading this stuff!
4. post as often as you can on your own blog - the more you pop up on your followers' blog lists, the more exposure you get!
5. When all else fails, beg! Do a post asking people who read your blog to sign up as followers (I did this - totally shameless begging, and I got a bunch of followers out of it LOL!)
Now, about the working out 2x a week. How in the heck do you do that? Wow. More power to you!!!
And I am crossing my legs more too. Great NSV for us both!
Oh one more idea - give yourself a last name initial like Amy W. did - this makes it easier to distinguish you from the other Jens! There are so many of us, and sometimes when you comment on my blog (or another Jen does), I don't always know which Jen you are!
ReplyDeleteOr I think, oh, I just commented on Jen's blog, so I don't need to go over there again - but I am thinking of a different Jen and then I miss commenting on your blog. Does that make any sense?
I don't think posted your weight or measurements have any matter in it whatsoever. It's all about the way you feel right? And it seems to me that you are feeling better and better by the day. That's all that matters! ((HUG)) Your looking hot!!
