I've been wanting to write this blog for a little over a week but just haven't found the time nor the time awake to do it!
1. Had my lapband removal surgery on Friday, March 27th. Was supposed to be quick in and out procedure with potential to have to stay overnight just for observation.
2. When I "came to" the doctor said they removed the band, BUT, they found a significant hole that the band was covering up but once removed, they could see it.
3. They repaired the hole and I stayed in the hospital for 4 full days.
4. Arriving home from the hospital, I looked like I had literally been hit by a bus. The number of bruises, scars etc that I have that are still completely visible today is crazy.
5. On Wednesday of last week, I noticed that one of my incisions (where the band actually came out) was really red, puffy and hot. Went to Dr. Yep, super infection. They opened me up there at the doctor to drain the infection and left the wound open to heal. I get to pack it 2x a day until it closes up. The first few days I would literally almost vomit at the thought that I was packing a wound and having to take care of it myself. I'm now a Wound Professional. I can pack that baby in like 4 minutes flat.
6. The anti-biotics they gave me were so strong that I was nauseous for the first few days that I barely ate anything. BONUS: I lost 10 lbs last week.
7. The anti-biotics also caused wierd side effects like hallucinations. I would close my eyes and it was like a party going on in my head. Was frightening.
8. I reached the lowest low on Friday when I just got so overwhelmed and desperate to feel better. I ended up having to take a Xanaz b/c I could not catch my breath and started to have a panic attack.
9. On Saturday, my friends showed up and didn't leave. It's amazing how much my spirit raised. I'm generally the positive person and when I say I was down in the dumps, I was DOWN.IN.THE.DUMPS!
10.. I'm currently in the insurance process for approval for the sleeve. At this point, I cannot see myself getting another surgery. Maybe my mind will change once I feel better but considering everything I've been through, I'll need a lot of convincing.
I was a perfect band patient. Never had any issues. Followed the rules 85% of the time. My band didn't fail me for 4 1/2 years but then something just happened. It sucks. I used to love Antonio. Now, he's just a fucker. Good riddance.

10 Things Thursday - it's been awhile!
1. Remember when our blog feeds would be FILLED with 10 Things Thursday posts? I miss those days.
2. March Madness starts today. For me, it's like Christmas. The.best.holiday.ever! I joined 7 pools which is going to be a little hard to manage. I only paid for 4 so the others I probably won't look at too much. of course those will be the ones I win!
3. We went to AZ this past weekend for Spring Training. Had so much fun! Was really packed with lots to do, so I feel I may need another more relaxing vacation soon! Got to see some of my faves and Mac got to be reunited with his first love Kennedy! Some pics:
4. When I was in AZ, I was telling some of my girlfriends about my upcoming band removal and how I'm in the process of approval for the sleeve. One of my friends asked, "don't you think you can do it on your own? why do you think you need another surgery?" Another friend here in Chicago asked me that last week as well. Truth is, I don't think I can do it on my own. I still don't think after 5 years of losing weight, that I won't fall back in to old habits. so sad, don't you think? I'm terrified that after next Friday, I'm going to magically gain all of my weight back in weeks.
5. So, I have a plan. I've been pretty good about working out (not lately but that's number 6) so I plan to continue doing that every day. I'm going to go back to watching and counting my calories. May join WW again as well. My workouts have been varied since I joined ClassPass: I've been doing combos of Body Pump, Yoga, Reformer Pilates, TRx, Zumba and walking and elliptical. Trying to cover all my body parts!! :)
6. So, about a month ago, I started doing the PIYO workout (from Beachbody) I did about a week of it and it's pretty intense. I noticed my back was hurting so I stopped for a week. Started up again the following week after I started feeling better. Well, by Friday, I could barely walk. By Saturday, every time I took a step, a sharp shooting pain went up my leg and I almost fell over. By Sunday, I couldn't feel my toes on my right foot. I went to Urgent Care to get something for the pain and they confirmed what I thought it was - sciatica. I was given a large amount of pain-killers, pain patches, muscle relaxers, etc.. and sent on my way. I started feeling better last week and even when we were in AZ, but I still can't feel my toes. My hip hurts sporadically. So, I am going to see an Ortho on Friday who I'm assuming will do an MRI and get to the bottom of what nerve issues are going on that I can't feel my foot. It's really annoying. I went to Hot Yoga the other night and couldn't do anything on my right leg for fear that I would topple over.
7. I'm a mess. I wish I could just get everything fixed next Friday in one surgery: take my band out, do the sleeve, fix my back and then maybe a mommy makeover while they are at it?? :) One can dream!
8. I have my insurance mandated visit with the Psychologist today! I remember when I had to do this for the Band and I felt like it was so stupid. I don't feel much different about the whole thing today except that I'll be $200 poorer. This guy better be GOOD!
9. I haven't mentioned Mac in the last two blogs. The kid is awesome. While he still is a lunatic sometimes, I think we have reached the magic age - he's 3 3/4. He traveled so well this past weekend. did not have one meltdown. only lost one superhero b/c he was flying outside the window of the car and he accidentally dropped him on the freeway! He says the most hilarious things that I should really be keeping track of.
10. I'm having a serious hair crisis. I usually love my hair but it's become so course and frizzy lately. I've tried everything to figure out what's happening - new hair brush, new shampoo/conditioner, new product, new hair dryer, etc. regulated my thyroid meds and nothing is changing. I hate to be so superficial but I LOVE my hair and lately, it makes me want to cry.
That's all I got. Hope you all have a great weekend!

So Long Antonio!
Hate for my first blog back to be bad news but that's the reality. Antonio "Band"eras is hitting the road at the end of this month. I've been having stomach issues for quite some time and back in October, could not eat or drink anything for about 5 days. I ended up in the ER and they diagnosed me with GERD, sent me on my merry way with some super high strength Prilosec and said Good Luck. I ended up going to a new (to me) Band Dr and having about 3ccs taken out and immediately felt better. He said the band looked good, position was good, it was just too tight.
Fast forward 3 or so months and my stomach issues start again. I had since gained back the 13 lbs that I had lost since the fluid removal and had just gotten my band tightened a little. Again, band dr. said everything looks great, etc. I decided to go to a GastroEnterologist on the recommendation of a friend and my primary care. He did an Endoscopy and when I came to, said "it's your band, it's migrated into your stomach and needs to come out". Needless to say, pity party of 1 started that minute. I've had my band since October, 2009, have never had it easy with losing weight, have worked for every pound that has come off. I've never had a point where I've gained, I've either been losing or maintaining for years. Granted, I still have about 50lbs to go, but shit. The thought of gaining all this weight back scares the crap out of me. I work out at least 5-6x a week, and eat pretty well, but I know myself. Once I know I can eat a cheeseburger, I will do it. And then keep going. It sucks.
BUT, the good news is I'm already working with a new Band Dr (one I tried to get in with back in October but wouldn't see me b/c I didn't have my band placed by them) but apparently now that I'm an emergency situation, they want me as their patient! Turns out he's the best in the city so I'm happy with that! He's going to remove the band on March 27th and I've already started the insurance hoop jumping for the Sleeve. So, barring any major insurance issues, I should be able to get that done by the end of the summer. I'm super hopeful that that will get me to where I need to be. I've talked to a few people that this has happened to and they give me really great positive feedback and most of all, HOPE. I hope I can maintain where I'm at until then, just have to keep working at it I guess.
Sorry, post is all over the place. I need to get back to blogging. I still check in every day and see who's blogged (and it's not very many of you! :( )
Til next time,

What's Up?? (Thankfully not my weight)
I don't know why it's so hard to blog!!
Seems like I make a start to come back and then completely blow my blog off for months and then start again, and the same cycle just keeps going. I know I'm not alone though b/c my blog feed has been nearly empty for months!!!
So, what have I been up to?
A LOT! As usual.
Thankfully, my blog absence does not coincide with a weight gain that I don't want to talk about. Actually, I'm doing pretty Ok. Not losing a great deal but still going along my merry slow pace. I'm still at the lowest I've ever been and I enjoy about 1/2 lb loss each week give or take. Now that it's finally SUMMER here in Il, I've been walking most nights or going to my beloved hot yoga sculpt class. My instructorconned talked me in to taking a 2 week bootcamp at our yoga studio which I'm pretty convinced may just knock me dead on my feet. It's 5 nights a week and two Saturday mornings and one sunday off for 2 weeks. I'll let you know how that goes.. I'm really hoping it'll really kick-start some massive weight loss and help me tone up a bit since I'm starting to see the loose skin more than ever before.
Otherwise in life we are just busy. Mac is doing great! Sassy almost 3 year old boy who wants to do the exact opposite of everything we ask him to do. He's loving school, really into baseball (to the delight of his dad) and in general is pretty sweet most days! We've been going up to Milwaukee for quite a few Brewers games and spending lots of time with our friends at festivals and brunching. In early May, my AZ Besties, Michelle and Joy came to town and that was FUN! I'm pretty sure after that weekend, I needed a full week to recover b/c we were on the go alot. I've had dinner with a fellow BOOB Deb and am planning to lunch with Beth, Deb and Beth's BFF when they come to Chicago next weekend!! It's nice to see the BOOBs!!
My work still sucks. Super boring but the schedule works great for me so I'm weighing the pros and cons of looking for a new job. Oh to be independently wealthy!
Just going to leave with a couple of pictures. Hopefully, I can get my shit together to start posting more regularly!!! Hope you are all well!! XOjs

5 Things Friday!
Hey peeps, how's it going?
I'm TRYING to get back in the groove of blogging and truthfully, my job isn't that exciting or busy, so I have no excuse anymore.
1. Speaking of my job. I really don't think this is the place for me. I think I was spoiled by Medicis and all the friends I made there and how much fun we had while working. I should say the 1st 4 years were fun and the last was pretty tough, but I'd almost take that non-stop busyness over what I'm doing now. The people just aren't that friendly and my boss is a bit of a micro-manager. For someone who thrives on human interaction, this is tough for me. I keep saying I need to give it some time and hope to get to know people better, since it's really only been 3 weeks, but I just don't know. We have a work function on the 14th so I'm hoping that people will loosen up a bit and actually talk to me and I can make some headway in getting to know them a bit more.. if not, then I'm going to start looking again. It wasn't that hard to find this job but that was when I didn't have a job so this might be a little tougher.
2. I only went to Yoga once this week and I'm pissed about it. I went to the gym a couple of times but I really wanted to make sculpt at least 2x this week and I just couldn't swing it. I'm hoping to go twice this weekend which will mean a lot of pain next week!! :) love the pain though!
3. I'm currently obsessed with my fitbit.. a few of my girlfriends have them and it's like a little competition to see who gets more steps. One is training for a half so her steps are out of control. But we taunt and cheer each other on! it's kind of nice to have something make me be accountable.. I am shooting for those 10000 steps every day! I had one of the Fitbits that I would just hook to my bra but updated to the one on my wrist (and you can see my super cute new watch too!! :) )

4. My parents are coming this weekend. I'm excited to see them as we haven't seen them since Christmas. Mac is super excited too b/c we are going to the aquarium! I swear every morning he gives me a list of ALL of the types of marine animals we are going to see! The weather officially blows so we'll be inside most of the days they are here! I mean really, Mother Nature needs to be punched in the face!!
5. Totally random but last night I woke up and it was super quiet in our house which is weird b/c I have a noise maker in our room. And I realized the power had gone out. I immediately started to panic as I knew we were dipping into the negatives last night and I was worried that we would all freeze to death with the power of and I didn't know how long it had been off, etc.. Thank god it went back on while I was still awake panicking b/c I would not have slept all night. It must not have been off for too long b/c it seriously never dipped below 74 in our house!! Worry Wort!! :)
totally boring blog so props to you if you are still reading!! I said I would blog but I didn't say it'd be interesting!!
happy weekend !

Where did my BloJo go??
So, Michelle texted me the other day and said that she wishes we still blogged b/c she misses reading mine.. kind of made me feel a little guilty for never posting. just a little! So, I figured now was as good a time as any to post. I've had kind of a whirlwind last three months or so but I don't think I've even posted to blog since September. Kind of sad, b/c there was a LOT going on I could have updated you on. But, now, there's just too much to talk about, so I'll try to catch everyone up over the next couple of weeks. I am friends on FB will a lot of my old blogger friends so most of you know what's been happening with the S family!!
Long Story Short..
Company that I worked with in Scottsdale got bought out by larger company and laid off most employees last year. My last day was 12/31.
Moved to Chicago on 12/14
Got a new job starting 2/5 - don't love it but don't hate it
Christmas came and went and holy shit it's almost March!!
Loving living in Chicago but totally over the winter weather nightmare that is currently the "worst winter in Chicago's history" - go figure
Missing Arizona - mostly my friends
Mac is thriving at a new school. Tim is loving the city life.
I enjoyed a month of unemployment - wish it would have been longer!
Since this is a weight loss focused blog, figured I'd start today with that subject.
I'm down at my lowest ever and oh so close to being down 100 lbs. Even once I hit 100 down, I still have a ways to go but I'm so happy with my progress these past couple of months. You know I love the workouts and while in AZ, I was totally in to Pilates but it's soo much more expensive here so I've been newly obsessed with hot yoga. I was a little nervous to try it but now I'm hooked! And, I've been doing a class called Sculpt which is essentially hot yoga with weights.. it's crazy hard but soo good. I'm already seeing changes in my body and I've been doing it for about 3 weeks.
My eating has been good. I still haven't found a new band doctor but for now, I'm ok with where I'm at. Just need to keep chugging along.
Will end with a couple of recent pics.. one was in November taken by one of our favorite photographers and one from Saturday night - out with the girls.~!
Hope you are all well, miss reading your blogs but thankful to the ones who are still keeping up with the blogs (BethAnn, that means you!! :) )

It Takes a Village..
I'm officially at my lowest low I've ever been on during this weight loss journey and I got on the scale yesterday and let out a big squeal! Tim thought it was because he walked into the bathroom and I didn't want him to see the scale (which would normally be true) but it was b/c I hadn't ever seen the number on it! (truth be told, it's been a few times these past 2 weeks that I've let out that little squeal of excitement!) I was thinking what was different this time other than the 50,200 other times that I've hopped back on the bandwagon and why I'm moving finally firmly into the right direction. I think it's a lot of HARD FUCKING work and a lot of support. If you don't have the support system around you or the cheerleaders with you, it's hard to get and stay motivated. So, in honor of 10 Things Thursday, here is my Village:
1. My husband - yes, it's annoying that he's losing weight all the time and he goes running EVERY.SINGLE.DAY of the week and people are always remarking how good he looks, but that man tells me almost every day how nice, pretty, thinner, etc I look.
2. Tracy - our Pilates instructor. I literally quit an entire full-service gym to just commit myself to going to her classes. She's that awesome. She's not your typical Pilates instructor - picture late 40s soccer mom from the Midwest who's more of a drill sergeant than a quiet peaceful yoga/pilates instructor. She will make sure that we don't walk the next day and that when we laugh, we remember he classes b/c our abs are so sore.
3. Kathi - my trainer. I've known Kathi on and off for the past 7 years. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do when I move and can't see her at least 1x a week. She's now just my friend, not my trainer. I look forward to getting my ass kicked by her. She gives the best feedback, gets irritated when you aren't trying hard enough and encourages when she knows you need it.
4. Michelle - I'm 100% an "I can do this all by myself girl" BUT, it's so nice to have a workout partner like Michelle. We generally do Pilates and workout with Kathi together each week. To look at the two of us, you'd never believe we were on the same level with our fitness (or at least I think we are..) she maybe weighs 80lbs soaking wet and I tell her all the time that if I looked like her, I'd be walking around in daisy dukes and a crop top, but listening to her about her own insecurities just makes me realize that no matter your size, health, etc... everyone has something they want to work on. I hate when we don't work out together b/c we also like to chit chat (sometimes that pisses Kathi off though!) and it's nice to just have someone to be accountable to every once in a while.
5. MacT - if it weren't for him, I'd probably have hit my goal weight by now, but Thank God for him. He's well into his terrible twos and we just run to keep up with him. He alone is a reason for getting in the best shape ever.
6. My other friends - last night I hosted Wine Down Wednesday for the first time in over a month and I hadn't seen a lot of them in over a month - it was so fun to hear them tell me how good I looked. That little bit of a boost makes me excited to keep on going.
7. My college roommate Karen - who got me started on Advocare at the end of July. I did the 24 day Challenge and lost about 10lbs and am still keeping at it. I love the way I feel on their products and I think in conjunction with my band, I feel like I'm finally going to get to goal.
8. My blog buddies - even though I don't write a lot anymore, I DO READ still. I'm still so motivated by everyone and their successes. I love seeing how people are doing, what they are doing and I miss it when bloggers (like me sometimes) fall off the face of the earth.
I'm sure there are more villagers but I can't think of them right now! So, who is in your village?
I promise to post more (not even sure anyone is really still reading) but will always be reading..
onward..
